The Last of Us: Left Behind standalone will be available on both PS3 and PS4 on May 12 for only $9.99. Either way, here's hoping players with large game libraries can make some room for The Last of Us Part II.The team at Naughty Dog is excited to let you know that Left Behind, the critically acclaimed and award-winning single-player chapter to The Last of Us, will be available as a standalone download via the PlayStation Store. It might be hard to please everyone, especially with expectations building for years.
The Last of Us had an install size of nearly half the size of The Last of Us Part II, so it goes to show how far console gaming has come. While the sequel looks gorgeous, the question remains if the gameplay, and for many, the story can compare. With the improvement in graphical fidelity, we can only assume that the incredibly detailed cutscenes, character models, and environments take a big chunk of the game's file size. Whether this 100 GB advice was written before the file size was confirmed is unknown, but if it is an allusion of what's to come, then players should start clearing a little extra space. There is also the question of a PlayStation Store page listing that states players should have at least 100 GB of free space before playing the game. Other fans are not looking forward to the download time of installing the game. Commenters lamented the fact that the large file size is putting a strain on their console hard drives, with some reminiscing how a 500 GB console hard drive seemed so spacious at launch and how small it looks now. On Reddit, user LeeShawBrown revealed the size of the pre-load for The Last of Us Part II and it clocks in at 76.97 GB. This pre-load, however, does not take into account possible patches that will come out when the game officially launches. While it should be no surprise to anyone keeping up with gaming in the past few years, fans should not expect the file size to be small.
